Criminals and Gun Laws
There are many people who oppose the gun laws being proposed by President Obama. There are many arguments against it, most dealing with the Second Amendment, but there’s an argument that must stop. Completely.
Let it be known that I am in favor of these laws, so you can claim bias if you want, but even if you are opposed to the laws, if you have some common sense, you won’t use this argument. Give a different one.
The argument that I am talking about is:
”Criminals don’t follow laws, so there shouldn’t be any laws passed for gun control.”
Really? Really?? Saying that is like saying:
”Criminals don’t follow laws, so there shouldn’t be any laws against rape.”
Or:
”Criminals don’t follow laws, so there shouldn’t be any laws against theft.”
Or:
”Criminals don’t follow laws, so there shouldn’t be any laws against kidnapping.”
Or:
”Criminals don’t follow laws, so there shouldn’t be any laws against murder.”
If that’s seriously your argument against gun control, then you clearly don’t think things through. This whole argument is a terrible one and if you really don’t want the new gun laws to be passed, you better come up with something different. Anyone who uses this to get across their view on guns just looks like an idiot.
